PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drive interrupting mechanism for a sewing machine, which is capable of easily adjusting the timing of abutment/engagement between an interruption frame and an interruption cam, securing a longer idling period, making more kinetic energy of the sewing machine be consumed, and stopping the sewing machine in the state of reducing an impact. SOLUTION: An attachment adjusting means for adjusting the attaching angle of a pulley pressing plate 20 to the interruption frame 11 is provided. The attachment adjusting means comprises: a swing center shaft 40 of the pulley pressing plate 20; an eccentric pin 41 for swinging the pulley pressing plate 20 around the swing center shaft; an oblong hole 41A for the eccentric pin formed on the pulley pressing plate 20 for freely rotatably fitting the eccentric pin 41; and fixing means 42 and 43 for fixing the pulley pressing plate to an arm part.
