<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizing plate which is a polarizing plate having an adhesive layer, a transparent protective film and an optical compensation layer in this order on at least one surface of a polarizer, and which can minimize display unevenness even when the polarizing plate is applied to a liquid crystal panel. <P>SOLUTION: The polarizing plate has an adhesive layer, a transparent protective film and an optical compensation layer in this order on at least one surface of a polarizer, wherein the optical compensation layer satisfies the relationship of nx≈ny>nz (wherein when a direction in which in-plane refractive index becomes maximum is considered to be X-axis, a direction perpendicular to the X-axis to be Y-axis, and a thickness direction to be Z-axis, nx, ny and nz denote refractive indexes in the directions of the X-, Y- and Z-axes, respectively), the transparent protective film contains a (meth)acrylic resin having a glutarimide unit and a (meth)acrylic ester unit, and the polarizing plate exhibits an in-plane retardation of <40 nm and a thickness-direction retardation of <80 nm. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
