An electrode assembly 10, for use in electrokinetic treatment of a substrate (fig 2;20), the electrode assembly 10 comprises: a tubular electrode 12, having a sidewall 14 comprising a plurality of openings 16; and a tubular liner 18 positioned at least partially within the electrode 12, for substantially preventing particulate material from entering the electrode 12 from substrate (fig 2;20) through at least some the ports 16. An electrokinetic system 30 comprising an electrode assembly 10 and a method for installing an electrode assembly 10 in a substrate 20, are also claimed. The liner can be removable, maybe formed of plastic or other polymeric material and can be installed during emplacement of the electrode or afterwards. This which may also allow the removal of soil and grout or cement to be emplaced. The electrode may comprise steel and maybe the Anode in the said system. |
