PURPOSE:To obtain a clear dot shape free of deterioration of resolution, by providing an ink support member which comprises a plurality of layers of film form substances differing in ink adhesion property and is provided with through-holes in the thickness direction thereof so that the holes can holds ink therein. CONSTITUTION:An ink ribbon 3 has a two-layer construction comprising a hydrophilic layer 15 and a hydrophobic layer 16. The ink 14 forced into a perforated part 17 of the ribbon 3 by the pressure of an ink-supplying roller 4 being rotated is repelled by the hydrophobic layer when the ribbon 3 is moved and separated from the roller 4, while adhering to the more wettable hydrophilic layer to form an ink film. The ink ribbon 3 fed to a recording part in this state is pressed against a recording paper 1 by a thermal head 2, and when a heating element 13 is operated to generate heat according to a recording signal, the ink is boiled at the part in contact with the heating element 3 or the vicinity of the part. The residual ink is blown away to the paper 2 side by the pressure of a vapor generated, and is adhered to the surface of the paper 1, thereby performing recording. The shape of the recorded dot is substantially the same as that of the hole, so that a sharp dot 12 can be obtained. |
