<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize both suppression of resistance value variation and STOL (short term overload) characteristics in a resistor or the like having a ultra-high resistance value of 1 MΩ/square or more. <P>SOLUTION: A conductive material contains a composite oxide of Er and Ru, i.e., Er<SB>2</SB>Ru<SB>2</SB>O<SB>7</SB>. Resistor paste contains the conductive material and a glass composition which are mixed with organic vehicle, and contains the composite oxide (Er<SB>2</SB>Ru<SB>2</SB>O<SB>7</SB>) of Er and Ru as the conductive material.
