摘要 PURPOSE:To prevent quick rise of the temperature even in the case where a solid electrolyte tube is broken and sodium and sulfur react with each other directly to generate sodium polysulfide at a high temperature by solidifying the sodium polysulfide quickly to restrict and finish the direct reaction of sodium and sulfur, holding the solid electrolyte tube with a small space between the electrolyte tube and a safety tube to reduce the quantity of sodium existing in the space. CONSTITUTION:A negative electrode chamber R1 and a positive electrode chamber R2 are formed inside and outside of a cylindrical solid electrolyte tube 4 having a bottom. A cylindrical safety tube 8 having a bottom and made of the metal having corrosion resistance is arranged inside of the solid electrolyte tube 4 contactless. Sodium Na is housed inside of the negative electrode chamber R1, and sulfur S is housed inside of the positive electrode chamber R2. Pressure of the positive electrode chamber R2 is set higher than the pressure of the negative electrode chamber R1 at a battery operating temperature. A space (g) between the solid electrolyte tube 4 and the safety tube 8 is set within a range from 0.01mm to 0.1mm.
