The cutter comprises a base metal (1) with an edge piece (2) of cemented carbide and a metal layer (3) between the base metal and edge piece. The metal layer comprises a very strong metal part (32) and a very solid metal part (31) which is mounted in an end piece of a connecting face of the edge piece and base metal and is more solid than the very strong metal part. The very strong metal part is made from a metal with a heat expansion coefficient which is between that of the base metal and that of the edge piece. At least one common metal element can be included in the very strong metal part and very solid metal part.
