PURPOSE:To make a drum light in weight and to improve its wear resistance to obtain stable recording and reproducing characteristics for a long time by forming a drum body for guide with synthetic resin materials and forming plating layers on the tape running surface and the guide surface. CONSTITUTION:A drum body 3 for video tape guide is provided with a cylindrical surface 4a where a tape 5 is wound and is rotated and run and a guide surface 4 which guides one end of the video tape 5, and a relief part 4b of a cutting tool for machining the guide surface 4 is formed on the tape running surface 4a. The drum body 3 is formed with synthetic resin materials including the guide surface 4 and each attaching hole, and plating layers 7 are formed on the running surface 4a and the outside surface of the guide surface 4. Thus, the drum body 3 is made light-weight and its wear resistance is improved to stabilize the recording and reproducing characteristics for a long time.
