The retardation device has a load relief channel (36) which communicates on one side with the displacement chamber (24) and on the other side with the counter chamber (14) of the housing (2) to form an overflow channel governed by the control valve (35). The relief channel is formed in the working piston (5); the control valve is also formed in the piston. The inertia body (48) is displaceably mounted in the movement unit (8).
