PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a replacement method for an elevator main rope using the platform of the top floor as a working field, and using no platforms of other floors or using them only in a minimum short time even if used. SOLUTION: This replacement method of elevator main rope comprises using the top floor platform of a car whose main rope is to be replaced as the working field, providing a working scaffold of a structure never obstructing the raising and lowering operation of an elevator to other floor platforms except the top floor platform within an elevator shaft near the top floor platform as a working field, and using the car inner part and a ceiling as a working field for taking in and delivering a main rope through an opening and closing port provided on the ceiling of the car.
