<p>A polyester resin is prepared by condensing dimethyl terephthalate and 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol where the polyester has an inherent viscosity of less than 0.80 dl/gm in a 60:40 phenol/tetrachloroethane solvent blend and the 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol reactant contains 75 to 100 % of its cis-isomer. This resin can be melt-cast to a film support suitable for motion picture film. Such film is particularly advantageous, because it can be formed without cracking, easily cut and perforated, will not be deleteriously affected by the presence of dust and splinters, and is made without adverse environmental effects.</p> |
