PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means in which a video display system, that is arranged in a public facility and displays video information, is automatically and easily operated. SOLUTION: Appropriate video signals are selected by a switching section 11 of a video display device 10 among the video signals outputted from a digital video disk(DVD) 30 and a laser disk(LD) 40 as a large capacity video reproduing device, for example and are displayed in a display section made of a PDP 12, for example. Control functions are provided to the DVD 30 and the LD 40 to reproduce and to stop video signals by external reproducing control signals. A general purpose personal computer 20 used as a display controller outputs video control signals to control the reproducing and the stopping of video signals of the DVD 30 and the LD 40 and to switch and control the section 11 of the device 10, video signals from the DVD 30 and the LD 40 are reproduced in accordance with a video display program table, that is beforehand set, and the signals are displayed on the device 10.
