Movements of nuclear fuel assemblies along a horizontal channel connecting a pool containing a submerged nuclear rector and a cooling pond, during fuelling and defuelling operations, are monitored using video cameras. Also claimed is a video camera (1) suspended inside a vertical, cylindrical casing (10), extending into the water but sealed and shielded against radiation, the camera being directed downwards but viewing the fuel assemblies through an inclined mirror (9).
