A seat bed base is constructed in two parts (A,B) which use a manually operated mechanism "CLIC-CLAC" (RTM) to allow alternative relative positions of the two parts to form either bed or seat. The base may be motorised by the use of a double acting electric jack (5) under remote control. The jack is seated in a base (7) and connected to a shaft (2) which is in turn integral with actuating rods (3a) at each end. The actuating rods (3a) are linked through two further jointed rods (3b,3c) to the existing mechanism (1) which has it's springs and ratchets removed.
