摘要 Examples of the disclosure accurately define a gray region for automatic white balancing. Ratios corresponding to possible gray areas are white balanced before color distance metrics are calculated with respect to white points under different light sources. The color distance metrics of each point in the image data are compared with a predetermined threshold value to identify a gray region. Gray points within a captured image are identified using the gray region and input to any AWB method to accurately white balance the captured image.

One or more computer storage memories embodying computer-executable components which, when executed, perform automatic white balancing, said components comprising: a sensor configuration component that when executed causes at least one processor to define a gray region for an image sensor by: accessing data including a pair of red/green and blue/green ratios corresponding to a point in any possible gray region,white-balancing the accessed data using different white points,calculating a plurality of color distances for the white-balanced data, andcomparing the calculated color distances to a threshold value to define the gray region for the image sensor; and a camera component that when executed causes at least one processor to identify gray points in image data by: determining whether points associated with the image data are within the gray region defined by the sensor configuration component, andbased on the determination, identify gray points as input to an automatic white balance (AWB) algorithm, wherein the AWB algorithm white-balances the image data.
