<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a slow release composition excellent in stability in slow releasing by using a polymer compound having low toxicity without using gelatin, an organic solvent and the like having problems in stability and provide a method for producing the same. <P>SOLUTION: The slow release composition comprises an active material, a water soluble cellulose and chitin and the active material is impregnated in a spherical base material comprising the water soluble cellulose, chitin and an adsorbent.
