PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain an improvement in speed of job execution in an image forming apparatus by making it possible to perform the setting of parameters in a register in parallel to other processings. SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus, a CPU sets in order parameters for colors which are carried out pulse width modulation next in a plurality of pulse width modulation standby registers Ra in parallel to pulse width modulation processing of a color, and collectively sets parameters which are respectively set in the pulse width standby register Ra, in a pulse width modulation active register Rb corresponding to it by inputting a pulse width modulation register setting signal S which is generated synchronizing a change of a write-in signal PRINT to "1".
