PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that illustrations representing function names and functions printed out on an operation member or the periphery of the operation member are hidden by user's finger and cannot be seen, when the user is holding a conventional digital camera. SOLUTION: In a display control method of a display means, in an imaging apparatus comprising the display means for displaying an image, an operation member to which a plurality of functions are allocated and a detection means for detecting contact with the operation member, the existence of contact with the operation member is judged by the detection means (S122, S154); and when contact with the operation member is detected, the functions allocated to the operation member in an operation state, when the contact is detected are controlled so as to be displayed on the display means (S123, S155).
