Embodiments of the present invention relate to the technical field of optical communications and provide a rack and a communication method. The rack comprises a rack housing, and further comprises a network management control unit, a disk array, and a data processing unit that are disposed in a first rack housing and that are connected to an external device through a backplane interface on the first rack housing. The network management control unit is configured to process and perform format conversion on a user instruction, and then send the user instruction to a service board card, the data processing unit, and the disk array, and send, to a user, a service state fed back by the service board card. The data processing unit is configured to process data in the service board card, the network management control unit, and the disk array, and report a processing result of the data processing unit in real time. The disk array is configured to store data in the network management control unit, state information of each service board card, and log information of the service board card. The embodiments of the present invention improve reliability and maintainability of the rack, and also improve a reaction capability and a service life of the rack. |
