<p>PURPOSE:To provide a hardening method, in which the strain after hardening a bar-like while shifting is made to be low. CONSTITUTION:The method for induction-hardening the bar-like work W while shifting, provides a first process, in which only the outer peripheral surface W2 of the work W is supported so that the work W is horizontal and is rotary as centering the axial line W1 of the work W and shiftably in the direction of the axial line W1,/and a second process, in which the one end of the work W is held in the condition of supporting only the outer peripheral surface W2 and while rotating the work W as centering the axial line W1 and also shifting in the axial line W1, after heating the work peripheral surface W2 with a heating coil 10 the heated work peripheral surface W2 is cooled by injecting hardening liquid Q and S from a rapid cooling jacket 21 and a slow cooling jacket 22, respectively. By this method, at the time of hardening the bar-like work W while shifting, the strain in the work after hardening is reduced.</p> |
