PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head protecting air bag device capable of installing an air bag smoothly between the occupant and the window even if the sits leaning on the rim of window inside a cabin. SOLUTION: The head protecting air bag device S1 is equipped with the air bag 51 and a pay-out material 38. The air bag 51 is accommodated on the side with upper rim of each window WF of a vehicle and developed and inflated in such a way as covering the inside of the cabin I of the window WF when the inflating gas from an inflator flows in at the time of actuation. The pay-out material 38 is accommodated at the rim of the window WF, paid out therefrom when a pretensioner is actuated, and located in the position on the outside of the cabin 0 of the air bag 51 at the completion of the development and inflation. The pay-out material 38 rises from the lower member DW of the window rims and draws up the occupant M leaning on the window rims. The air bag 51 is developed and inflated in a position between the drawn-up occupant M and the window WF. |
