PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of efficiently separating and recovering cobalt from a cobalt-containing material such as carbide tool waste.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for separating cobalt characterized in that a carbon material is added to a cobalt-containing waste and is subjected to reduction roasting at 850°C or higher in a nonoxidizing atmosphere, the roasted matter is made into slurry, and the cobalt included in the slurry is subjected to magnetic selection. Preferably, in the cobalt-containing waste being the residue obtained by leaching and separating tungsten from the oxide roasted matter of the super-hard waste, the reduction roasted matter is pulverized and is added with a dispersant to make slurry, and magnetic selection is performed at the magnetic force of magnetic flux density of about 1,000 gauss.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
