PURPOSE:To reduce the burden of a driver at the engine brake operating time in a vehicle with an automatic transmission mounted thereon. CONSTITUTION:In an automatic transmission performing the speed change of engine output automatically for output, an accelerator pedal operated by a driver is formed in such a way as to be displaceable further into the closing direction than the totally closed state of a throttle valve disposed in the intake passage of an engine. There is provided a control unit 70 for controlling engine braking quantity by enlarging a gear ratio according to the displacement quantity when a pedal position sensor 71 for detecting the depression angle of the accelerator pedal indicates the displacement further in the closing direction than the totally closed state of the throttle valve.
