The invention concerns a method for producing a ring-shaped headrest comprising at least an opening, in particular for a motor vehicle seat. The invention is characterised in that it consists in the following steps: a) producing a ring-shaped case (7) corresponding in shape to the headrest, comprising an slot around its opening; b) placing a reinforcing insert in said case; c) filling with said case the inside of a mould (8, 8') of similar shape provided with at least a central core (9; 19; 23; 25; 27); d) injecting a plastic foam (16) into said case; e) closing said slot.
