PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery module which has holding frames comprising a plurality of subframes, offers superior volumetric efficiency and convenience, and eliminates errors in assembling or repairing of the module and can make the to take to produce or repair the module. SOLUTION: The battery module includes a plurality of batteries 2, and the holding frames 3 comprising the subframes 4, 7 and 8 having supports that are fitted on part of the outer periphery of the batteries 2. Both the axial ends of the batteries 2 are supported on the supports of respective subframes 4, 7 and 8 of the frames 3, and pair of adjacent batteries are mutually electrically connected. The holding frame 3 has a front face and a back face that are different in shape from each other. The subframes have at least either of a plurality of mutually engaging projections and engaging recessions that are shaped into patterns that cause the projections and recessions to engage with each other, to give the right shapes for the front and the back faces of the holding frame 3.
