PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a work supply and carrying-out apparatus capable of coping with a plurality kind of works and, in particular, not requiring a special holding mechanism for a transport of a long-sized work. SOLUTION: The work supply and carrying-out apparatus 3, which supplies a un-machined work w1 of a work carry-in position B to the work machining area A of a machine tool 1 and carries out a machined work w2 of a work machining area A to a work carry-out position C, comprises a base member 5 which is supported by a support member 4 so as to be movable between the work carry-in position B and the work machining area A and between the work machining area A and the work carry-out position C, a plurality of pairs of work bands 8 and 9 which are supported by the base member 5 an can grip the work, and a work hand varying mechanism 10 which varies the interval between work bands 8 and 9 depending on the characteristics of the work.
