PURPOSE:To reduce the time required for the input by confirming an entire picture unable to be displayed on a screen because its lateral size is too large so as to allow the user to grasp the relation of position. CONSTITUTION:A picture not accommodated on a screen because its lateral size is too large is read from a data area 1, the entire picture is expanded in a virtual picture area 2 to count sequentially dot information of longitudinal lines of the entire picture thereby generating a frequency distribution table. A compressed pattern able to be displayed within the screen is generated by eliminating longitudinal lines equivalent to a lateral width of a part being the subtraction of data corresponding to the pattern lateral width from data in a real picture data area resulting from eliminating data whose frequency is zero from the entire picture based on the frequency distribution table. |
