FLAT PROJECTION TELEVISION SYSTEM

PURPOSE: A flat projection television system is provided to configure an optical system by using a cholesteric liquid crystal(CLC) selectively reflecting/transmitting light according to a circular polarization direction of light, so that the thickness of a projection television system can be reduced. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal display(LCD) panel(32) receives light from a light source(31) to display video by a video signal. A wavelength plate(33) converts polarization of the video of the LCD panel(32) into circular polarization. An optical system(34) projects the video of the LCD panel(32). A cholesteric liquid crystal(CLC,35) selectively reflects and transmits light according to a polarization direction of light. A reflecting mirror(36) reflects light to move an optical path to a rear screen(37). The rear screen(37) images the video.
