PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a defect in power supply due to a walk during rotation of a charging roll when electric power is supplied from one end of the charging roll. SOLUTION: The charging roll 14 has a charging layer 105 around a conductive shaft 104. The shaft 104 is supported rotatably by a bearing 110. One end of a metallic leaf spring 112 is fitted to a frame 108A on one end side of the charging roll 14, and the other end of the leaf spring 112 abuts against an end surface of the shaft 104. The leaf spring 112 supplies electric power to the charging roll 14. The external diameter of the charging layer 105 gradually increases from both end parts to the center part side, and a crown peak 105A having the largest outer diameter is formed on the opposite side from the leaf spring 112 about the center part.
