PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology capable of forming an image appropriately according to the length of a recording medium while compressing image data obtained by reading the image of an original. SOLUTION: A CPU 60 stores the image data of a top line formed to a paper sheet first, and stores the image data of a predesignated line except the top line in a RAM 62 without any compression. For the image data of a non-designated line except the top and predesignated lines, only differential data to image data of a line read immediately after each line are stored in the RAM 62.
