Provided is an absorbent article that uses an elastic sheet and has an elastic section in the width direction. An absorbent article having an elastic section in which an elastic sheet (1) is joined to another material in the width direction of the absorbent article on at least one end of the absorbent article in the longitudinal direction, wherein: the elastic sheet has an elastic film (30), which is capable of stretching in at least the longitudinal direction, laminated between a first sheet layer (21) that does not stretch and a second sheet layer (22), and the first sheet layer (21) and the second sheet layer (22) are joined directly or with the elastic film (30) therebetween via a large number of joints (40) which are spaced at intervals; the elastic sheet (1) contracts due to the contractile force of the elastic film (30), and can be stretched by applying an external force in the width direction of the article; and the joint area ratio, which represents the total area of the joints (40) within a unit area, of a first area (A) differs to that of a second area (B) adjacent to the first area (A) in the width direction. |
