<p>Methods and apparatus for treating abnormal blood flow. The apparatus comprises a vaso-occlusive device of a hydratable filament comprising extruded polyacrylonitrile for implantation in a patient at a site of abnormal blood flow. The device treats ruptured blood vessels, aneurysms, arterio venus malformations (AVMs), fistulas and benign and malignant tumors. The methods include a method of making the vaso-occlusive device and methods of treating patients having abnormal blood flow by implanting the device at a site of abnormal blood flow.</p> |
