PURPOSE:To improve the life of a rolling bearing under high temperature environment or clean environment by forming at least the rolling bodies among bearing rings, rolling bodies, and a retainer made of anticorrosive material out of ceramics containing silicon nitride as a main body, and forming a diamond-like carbon film on the surface. CONSTITUTION:Among bearing rings, rolling bodies, and a retainer made of anticorrosive material such as stainless steel and constituting a rolling bearing, at least the rolling bodies 3 are formed out of ceramics containing silicon nitride as a main body. A diamond-like carbon film 5 is formed on the surface of the rolling body. This diamond-like carbon film had better contain silicon of about 5-25%. Further the diamond-like carbon film 5 containing silicon can be favorably treated in a plasma fluorine atmosphere so as to contain fluorine. In this way, the diamond-like carbon film not only insures lubricating ability of the bearing, but hardly peels so as not to generate dust in the bearing and exhibits high hardness, and it is excellent in anticorrosion and heat resistance. |
