PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure good fuel consumption performance and heating performance while avoiding the structural complication and upsizing of a cylinder block.SOLUTION: A cooling device for an engine includes a water jacket formed on a cylinder block so as to encircle a cylinder bore wall of the engine, a hollow spacer member stored in the water jacket while being spaced from the cylinder bore wall, an introduction passage for introducing cooling water into an internal space of the spacer member, and a discharge passage for discharging the cooling water from the space between the spacer member and the cylinder bore wall. The spacer member has a bore side peripheral wall near and opposite the outer peripheral face of the cylinder bore wall. In the bore side peripheral wall, a jet hole is formed which extends from the outside to the inside for jetting the cooling water from the internal space to the cylinder bore wall.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
