PURPOSE:To enable one hard copying machine to obtain both monochromatic and color hard copying by providing both circuits of color conversion and monochromatic conversion in a hard copying machine. CONSTITUTION:Before hard copying, it is decided whether color copying or monochromatic one and a flip flop 10 is set or reset by a CPU 6 according to the decision. And, in the case of color hard copying, a color conversion circuit 3 is made to operate and in the case of monochromatic hard copying, a monochromatic conversion circuit 9 is made to operate and also, a circuit that is not operated is set in a prohibition state to operate. So that the CPU 6 controls all of the machine, it gives the indication of color conversion or that of monochromatic conversion to a control circuit 5. And also, it controls to output color information or monochromatic information that is stored at a hard copying memory 4 from an output port 7 through a bus 8.
