An electrosurgical pencil 20 includes a suction tube 28 that is movable relative to the pencil 20, and an electrode anchor unit (72, Figure 9) that is fixed relative to the pencil 20 and located within the interior of the suction tube 28 in a manner that allows the suction tube to slide relative to the stationary anchor unit (72). The suction tube 28 defines a passageway (45, Figure 9) around an electrode 24 connected to the anchor unit (72) for evacuating smoke and electrosurgical by-products from a surgical site. Electrodes 24A, 24B of different lengths may be removably connected to the electrode anchor unit (72) and the length of the suction tube 28 extended or retracted relative to the electrode to achieve effective evacuation, among other things. The electrode anchor unit (72) construction and its fixation to the pencil inhibit movement or rotation of the anchor unit (72) whilst allowing movement of the suction tube 28. |
