摘要 A multi-view 3D(3-Dimensional) image system and a compressing and decompressing method applied to the system are provided to increase a compression rate by transmitting no data about an actual image when the difference between an intermediate image generated using images captured by first and third cameras among neighboring first, second and third cameras and the actual image captured by the second camera is smaller than a predetermined value. A disparity vector corresponding to a motion vector between first and third images from among first, second and third images respectively captured at the same time by first, second and third cameras continuously located is estimated(S801). An intermediate image having an intermediate value of the disparity vector is generated(S803). A residual is generated from the difference between the intermediate image and the second image, and the residual is compared to a threshold value(S805). The first and third images are coded and transmitted. When the residual is smaller than the threshold value, information indicating that the residual is not transmitted is coded and transmitted(S811). When the residual is greater than the threshold value, the residual is coded and transmitted(S809).
