An LCD including a common electrode is provided to prevent parasitic capacitance by including no electrode to which a voltage is applied on data lines/gate lines. Data lines parallel to each other are formed on a first substrate. Gate lines parallel to each other are formed to lie at a right angle to the data lines on the first substrate. A second substrate faces the first substrate. A common electrode is placed under the second substrate. The common electrode includes an aperture(28) overlapping at least one of the plurality of data lines and the plurality of gate lines.
