PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve underwater work efficiency by installing a surface treat ment unit to surface treat a coating surface and a coating unit to coat the coating surface both of which move along a guide equipped on a frame positioned at a definite interval to the coating surface with the aid of a position- holding mechanism. SOLUTION: In coating for repairing in the water, a coater 1 for repairing in the water is first travelled to a repairing place and is held in position by using a position-holding mechanism 5 comprising a ballast tank, a thruster 6 for driving, and a thruster 7 for shifting up and down, or the like. Next, an abrasive 42... is pressed on a coating surface 8 by extending a pressing mechanism of a surfacing unit 40. The surfacing unit 40 is traveled with rotating the abrasive 42... so as to remove stuck materials on the coating surface 8 and to make the surface coarse. Then, a coating agent is fed from a coating- supplying device with pressing the spatula unit 22 of a coating unit 20 on the coating surface 8 and the coating surface 8 is coated by pressing a rear roller unit 23 on the coating surface 8 and transferring the coating unit 20.
