The polyester staple fiber is produced by (a) ester exchange reacting 100wt.pts. of a dimethyl terephthalate, 70wt.pts. of an ethylene glycol with 0.07wt.pt. of a calcium acetate, (b) reacting the reactant with 0.04wt.pt. of an antimony dioxide, 0.4wt.pt. of a titanium dioxide, 4.07wt.pt. of a calcium acetate, 2.0wt.pt. of a polyethylene glycol and 0.04wt.pt. of an antimony oxide, (c) polymerizing the reactant with 0.5wt.pt. of a tetradecane sulfonic acid sodium salt, (d) spinning the chip to obtain a polyester spun yarn, and (e) weight reduction treating the yarn with 0.8% NaOH for 30min. The polyester staple fiber has an improved dry touch and repulsive elasticity.
