PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten an initial rotation operation time before a predetermined developing bias is applied to a developing roller.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes an image carrier, storage means which at least stores the use history of the image carrier, a storage chamber which stores a developer, a developing chamber which includes a developer carrier developing the electrostatic image of the surface of the image carrier with the developer, an antenna member which is arranged to face the developer carrier, to detect an electrostatic capacitance, and control means which executes an initial rotation mode for at least rotating the image carrier, when it is determined that the image carrier is new on the basis of the use history of the image carrier stored by the storage means. The image forming apparatus is configured so that the control means detects whether or not the amount of the developer carried by the developer carrier is a fixed amount or more on the basis of the electrostatic capacitance, while the image carrier is rotated by the initial rotation mode.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6 |
