THERAPEUTIC INHIBITOR OF VASCULAR SMOOTH MUSCLE CELL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for inhibiting stenosis following vascular trauma or disease in a mammalian host.

SOLUTION: An intravascular stent includes a therapeutically effective dosage of a cytoskeleton inhibitor such as cytochalasins B or taxol of sustained-release type in a biodegradable film; and vascular smooth muscle binding protein that associates in a specific manner with a cell surface of the vascular smooth muscle cell. This method is provided for inhibiting stenosis following vascular trauma or disease in a mammalian host, and the method includes a step of administering the intravascular stent to the host.
