<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable information storage medium capable of improving security and convenience of a user, an authentication system, a program for the portable information storage medium, and an authentication method. <P>SOLUTION: This authentication system 1 is provided with a holder 20 inputting fingerprint data of the user and offering them to an IC card 10, a nonvolatile memory 14 storing a plurality of different fingerprint data of a valid user, a determination part 151 determining whether the fingerprint data of the user inputted from the holder 20 correspond to those of the valid user stored in the nonvolatile memory 14 or not, the IC card 10 having an authentication part 152 authorizing the user when the determination part 151 determines that any of the fingerprint data of the valid user matches those of the user, and a PC 30 giving the IC card 10 an instruction to carry out collation. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
