PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive panel for image display whose image contrast is not reduced even if the panel is repetitively used and which has excellent durability by avoiding complicated influence on particles (or powdery fluid) in frictional charge characteristics and to provide an image display apparatus using the same. SOLUTION: In the panel for image display wherein a plurality of cells 11 divided by partitions 4 are formed between two substrates 1 and 2 which are opposed to each other and at least one of which is transparent, at least two particle groups 3 or at least two powdery fluid groups 3 are encapsulated in the cells and the particle groups or the powdery fluid groups are moved to display an image by imparting an electric field to the particle groups or the powdery fluid groups, the inner surface of the cells in which at least the two particle groups or at least the two powdery fluid groups are to be encapsulated is coated with one material to form a coating layer 12.
