Veterinary formulation for injectable administration of selenomethionine for production of selenium-rich foods

Disclosed is a veterinary formulation for injectable administration, which includes: selenomethionine; at least one oil-based vehicle; and optionally a suspending agent such as beewax; wherein upon administration the formulation forms a depot. The formulation is suitable for administration to animals for increasing the blood concentration of selenium, thereby increasing the selenium content in milk and/or meat from the animals for the subsequent nutritional benefits in humans.
