<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a front light for a reflective LCD wherein all of a contrast ratio, light utilization efficiency, luminance uniformity and image quality are not deteriorated. <P>SOLUTION: The front light has a reflection control layer 15 coming in contact with an upper surface of the reflective LCD 21, an incident surface receiving light source light (preferably a P polarization light) and a first emission surface coming in contact with an upper surface of the reflection control layer and includes a first light guide 2 introducing light to the reflection control layer through the first emission surface, a light source 1 generating the light source light and a second light guide 4 disposed in the reflective LCD. The first light guide has a refractive index higher than that of the reflection control layer and the second light guide emits light introduced from the reflection control layer at an emission angle smaller than that of light from the first light guide to the reflection control layer while transmitting the light. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
