<p>Portable apparatus (10) for recovering, recycling, recharging and/or flushing refrigerant of air-conditioning or refrigeration systems of vehicles or buildings. A vertical column (28) on a wheeled base (not shown) supports a generally unitary compact assembly (32) containing accumulator, storage, condenser, and high and low pressure chambers. These chambers are defined by annular walls within a pair of substantially identical cast aluminium housings (48 and 50) each having cylindrical and semicylindrical portions. A sandwiched assembly of three plates (104, 106, 108) joins the housings (the opposite ends of the housings are closed by removable end plates). Channels in plates (104 and 106) communicate with holes in the intermediate plate (108) to form flow passages linking the various chambers with control valves (110), a manifold (114) (which connects the apparatus with the system to be serviced), and a single compressor/vacuum pump unit (116). A microprocessor monitors sensors and controls the valves to allow the apparatus to perform the variety of functions with minimum intervention by an operator.</p> |
