PURPOSE:To provide a detergent which can improve the safety to the human body and the environment, detergency, and economy, which comprises a decomposition product of a protein derived from a particular grain as an active ingredient. CONSTITUTION:An aq. soln. or an aqueous dispersion (a) contg. 2-40wt.% protein derived from a grain, such as wheat gluten, corn gluten or soybean protein, is stirred at 60-180 deg.C for 10-60min in the presence of an alkali (b) (e.g., NaOH), thereby conducting the decomposition of component (a) with component (b). Then, the product is stirred at 60-120 deg.C for 10-600min in the presence of an acid (c). A partial decomposition product (A) having a wt.-average MW of 500-30,000 is prepd. by decomposition with component (c) and/or with an enzyme (d) having a protease activity at an optimum pH of the enzyme at 10-60 deg.C for 60-600min and/or with component (D) in the presence of a reducing agent of an oxidizing agent (e) at 10-100 deg.C for 10-600min. If necessary, component (A) is blended with a surfactant (B) in a component A to component B wt. ratio of 1-4:4-1. |
