PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly take in leaves and stems, reduce the clogging of the leaves and stems and improve the maintainability. SOLUTION: This raking in device 8 is obtained by making the raking in device 8 detachable from a machine casing 1 and making a passive shaft 74 of the raking in device 8 detachable from a driving shaft 24 for the raking in device 8 interlocking with a driven shaft of a nipping and pressing device 9 for that purpose, additionally installing a supporting arm 73 extended to the lower part of a supporting frame 70 for the raking in device 8 and detachably mounting the supporting arm 73 on the machine easing 1 in a walking type foliage treating machine comprising a foliage treating part 1 capable of keeping root parts of subterranean stem crops in a ridge, raking in leaves and stems with the raking in device 8, nipping and pressing the leaves and stems with the nipping and pressing device 9 and transferring the leaves and stems to the upward rear and a collecting and releasing device 10 provided at the terminal end of the foliage treating part 7 and capable of collecting a prescribed amount of the transferred leaves and stems and releasing the collected leaves and stems onto the ground.
