An alignment film composition for liquid crystal display devices is provided to form even alignment films when the alignment film is formed by an ink jet manner, and to enable the production of high-quality liquid crystal display devices. An alignment film composition for liquid crystal display devices includes a solid, N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone, butyl cellosolve, gamma-butyrolactone, and dipropylene glycol monomethyl ether, wherein a concentration of the gamma-butyrolactone is 65-75wt%. A concentration of the dipropylene glycol monomethyl ether is 5-15wt%. A concentration of the N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone is 9-15wt%. The solid is at least one kind of polymer selected from the group comprising polyamic acids and polyimides.
